Electric cars have two types of batteries - low-voltage and high-voltage. The first type is almost analogous to the starter batteries of gasoline and diesel cars. It needs to be changed in the same way - as it fails, after a few years. Replacing the high-voltage battery is not provided for; it can be repaired or properly configured.
